Vintage Aged 1960's KENT Acoustic Parlor Guitar~Slide~High Action~Japan~Kitschy - $36 - (Aberdeen, WA)
A hard-to-find KENT ACOUSTIC guitar. Great example of a 1960's Japan-made guitar produced for the masses. ? The body and neck are stained a deep reddish-brown.? Can be a kitschy beater for beach or camp playing.? Tuners are in decent condition--no rust, pegs turn.? Bridge is securely attached.? Neck joint firmly intact.? Vintage screwed-down faux tortoise shell pick guard.? Typical finish issues commensuate with this guitar's age: shallow & deep scratches (especially the long one on back), scuffs, hazing, excessive edge wear (chipped in spots), dings, dents, stains. Some fret wear.? High action? Nut is chipped near 6th string slot. The slot is intact.? Slight hump near the sound hole area, slight dip near bridge.? Needs a new set of strings.? Some seam separation in back.? Length is 36", lower bout 13" across, upper bout 9-1/2" across, depth is roughly 3-3/8".Nut width is 1-11/16" Width at neck joint is 2-1/8"Decades after construction, the wood is well aged, being subjected to expansion and contraction. There are obviously pros and cons in these changes. Overall, the woods, materials, methods, and place of manufacturing all contribute to its desirability as well as its quirky sound and feel.
