VINTAGE CORGI TOYS VW VOLKSWAGEN KOMBI VAN MICRO BUS #434-A - RESTORED to NEAR MINT - 1:43 scale CONDITION RESTORED to "Near Mint" by H.CARSon. Color matching early Corgi paint is difficult. They tended to use unusual blends that were slightly "off" from standard spray paint colors. For example, the ivory for the roof has some green tint in it and the olive body has a yellowish tint. Therefore, the paint is not a match, but it's close enough for an amateur collector's shelf display IMHO. Comparing this van head to head with an original non-restored model will certainly reveal the shade differences. I'm offering two variations of this restored van. On this version I painted a yellow undercoat to give the olive a brighter "yellowish" tone. The idea did work, it's lighter and 'yellower" in shade than the other van, which does not have the yellow undercoat, but not enough for an exact match to the original. But then, since when did your car ever come back from the body shop with an exact match paint job? Reproduction tires, original polished glass (yeah it has some scratches that wouldn't come out), original red interior, detail painted bumpers and headlamps. Epoxied the body and grey painted base together. I think it's a decent collection "filler" of a very hard-to-find Corgi VW Kombi Van. See the other van #2 at my sellers other items link. Got my first Corgi at seven in '69. When we moved to Canada in '69-'70 Dad would bring home Corgis, Dinky Toys, Husky's, and Superfast Matchbox cars (Hot Wheels were not yet sold in Canada). After we moved back the kids across the street and I would buy, trade, race, and sometimes customize our cars.
