Circa 1880 - 1890 Antique quilt with fabulous fabrics and in beautiful antique condition. Double pink antique fabric squares measuring 7.25 inches alternating with patchwork squares constructed from old fabrics including indigo blues, cranberry, homespun plaid, and madder browns and calico prints. Beautifully hand quilted at 7 to 8 stitches per inch. Tiny, precise stitching for the binding. The back is constructed from muslin. Measures 86 inches by 72 inches. Shown pictured on our high queen-sized bed to give you an idea of the size. Four faded spots in the antique deep brown and green squares as in slide 11. Slide 9 shows two really beautiful old repairs that were formed by machine stitching a muslin patch to the back and hand stitching the front of the quilt. Close inspection shows a few age spots to a few of the muslin squares and the back as pictured in slide 10. Weight before packing is 3.25 pounds.
