Large Original Betty Lou Schlemm Watercolor - Rockport Harbor Large Original Betty Lou Schlemm Watercolor - Rockport Harbor Click images to enlarge Description Large Original Betty Lou Schlemm Watercolor - Rockport Harbor Offered here is an original Schlemm watercolor providing a view of the Rockport, Mass. harbor with boats in the foreground and the fishing shack known as Motif 1 in background. There are figures in the boats and on the pier. It’s a large painting on heavy rag paper. The colors are rich and strong. Schlemm’s fluid strokes and effortless capture of the scene are typical of her work. It sparkles. The watercolor was purchased from the artist in the 1970’s, and is of some historical interest in that it pictures Motif 1 before it was destroyed by the blizzard of 1978. The Motif 1 which exists today is a reconstruction. It is matted under glass and nicely framed. Sight size is 17.25” x 23.5” and the frame is 21 inch by 29 inch. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition. Schlemm’s larger watercolors have sold in the thousands. We sold two from our collection at $3500 and $4000 over 20 years ago.
