Antique 18th Century American Short top desk (cherry?) - $3,400 - (Leesburg, VA)

This is a beautiful antique American desk from the 1700s. I believe the wood is cherry, but I am not certain. We purchased this desk from a reputable (now retired) antiques dealer in Charlottesville, VA. I still have the receipt and will provide a copy upon purchase. There are professional repairs to the wood near the hinges- but this work was done some time ago. It can be seen in the photo where the desk top is opened. There is also a superficial crack on the surface of the desk, which can be seen in the same photo. As we were told when we purchased it- this was not always an antique and was actually used as a desk over 200 years ago! We recently moved and now it sits in our hallway- but it is too big to remain there.
