1726 Vellum Indian Land Patent-Deed-Indenture Mebie/Mabee FORT GEORGE/HUNTER - $995 - (East Berne, NY)

For sale is an original 1726 land patent certificate. It is on vellum is in mounted on a wood frame. Measures 28" by 22". This was for Peter Mebee (also known as Mabee, Mebee, Mebie); heir (son) of land from John Peterse Mebee of Schenectady NY. Deals with land west of the Schohare (Schoharie) River or Creek, Called Tiondorogue by the Indians (Mohawk). John Mebie had purchased land from the indians and this deals with Peter having the land returned to him . This was about 4 miles south of Fort Hunter and where the Schoharie River runs into the Mohawk. Granted by Governer of NY, William Burnes. Written at Fort George. The vellum was attached to linen and wrapped around the wood frame. It is stiff but not brittle and does have some play. Has some warp/bumps. Some of the linen has split, but the vellum is pretty good. Has soiling, fade, and wear but you can still read almost all of it. I removed this from a very old oak frame with wavy glass and square nails that can be included for a $25 additional shipping fee if you would like.
