Marshall 1971 Vintage 50 Watt Small Box All Tube Amp Head w/Lay Down Power Transformer. This particular Marshall amp head is a PA Model 1985 and has been spec'd out and voiced to be just shy (add a Treble & Bright Cap and your there) of that of Marshall's Model 1987 Lead Amp Head. All components are original Marshall NOS parts. The original Lay Down Power Transformer has been replaced with a Mercury Magnetics to correct original specifications; the original Solid State rectifier has also been replaced as well. This Amp Does Not have or has ever had a Master Volume Mod and there are NO Xtra Drilled Holes in the original chassis. All of the the other major tone components including the Output Transformer, Choke, Mustard Caps and point to point wiring/turret board and even the Bulgin AC Power jack are original to this amp as well as the small box cabinet. The tone is compressed and creamy without being too Bright & Shrill which many Lead Heads tend to be; the Midrange is focused and tight, and the amp breaks up easily at around 4-5. Plenty of Low End and plenty of Midrange sparkle & attack with the Presence control - essentially a Lead voiced head without the Shrill. The amp is in excellent condition both operationally & cosmetically, and has been well cared for and maintained. This is a rare vintage Marshall with a unique tonal compliment.
