For Sale: A late cold war era SDU by Singer Metrics Corporation, Model SB-15a sporting an IF input range of 10 to 500 kHZ. This should be an excellent accessory companion to the R390, R390A, SP-600, RA-17 and any other low frequency IF receiver. A caution from the manual: 'No attempt to operate the equipment should be made until the user is throughly familiar with the information contained in Chapter III - OPERATION'. A manual on CD along with schematic is furnished with this unit. Considering what people are paying for CV591 SSB converters, I think this unit is a bargain and far more useful. Description of Use: "The equipment provides an automatic, visual presentation of the frequency and amplitude of signals present in the frequency region of 100 cps to 600 kc for such studies as harmonic content, cross-modulation products, filter and transmission checks, ultrasonic vibration measurement, medical studies, and telemetry-channel monitoring. On further ... "The equipment can be used to display modulated signals to measure energy distributions and to look for such effects as unwanted or excessive modulation, linearity of deviations, hum and noise, and otherwise undetectable parasitic oscillations. Other dynamic phenomena such as crowded communications channels, oscillator or carrier instability, and noise spectra can be studied. Both the direction and magnitude of changes caused by deliberate or random change of circuit or operating parameters, mechanical shocks, environmental changes, etc. can be seen instantly." Condition: Untested and has never been powered up. Excellent physical condtion as sets of this age go. It is dirty (dust layer) and should be cleaned during servicing. We recommend the simple tube shields be changed with IERC shields if the buyer can obtain them.
