RARE KPM 11.5” Charger Wall Cabinet Plate After Murillo Boys Eating Fruit Gift 1 - $870 - (Hagerstown, MD)
What an amazing find for the KPM Collector. This amazing charger was sitting in an attic covered in dust and dirt and is being offered as found. It could use a cleaning. Clearly and correctly marked at the reverse. Please refer to the pictures. The Charger/Wall Hanging is free from chips, breaks, cracks or repairs. We have examined the aforesaid under black light and found no repairs. Measures just over 11.50” across. According to the FO this treasure along with the other KPM Charger/Wall Hanging we are currently offering was a Christmas present from her Husband in 1985 or so. It is our opinion that this wonderful treasure is contemporary with that time. As of this listing we have been unable to locate another of these rare KPM Charger/ Wall Hanging currently offered via the internet at any price. That being said we did find a beautiful and rare 19th Century Version. Cowan’s has an auction estimate for $8-12,000.00 for a circa 1900 plaque of the same image. Painted after a work by 17th century Spanish artist Bartolome Esteban Murillo (1617-1682), this enchanting KPM painting on porcelain is a beautiful rendering of the artist's original work of two Neapolitan urchins eating fruit. Entitled "Grape and Melon Eaters," the painting invokes the spirit of the 17th century master painter. We seriously doubt that you will see another one for some time to come. A wonderful gift idea.
