A Gentleman's Pocket Watch with Fusee Verge Movement. This particular pocket watch was manufactured by Robert Roskell in Liverpool Circa 1820.Finished in 18k yellow gold, with a fine repousee case. The numbered Fusee Verge Movement is 34328.The works incorporate the Spiral Grooved Cone and Chain system, the case also contains the matching number 34328. The overall condition of this watch is excellent and it has recently been inspected and found to be functioning correctly. There are several original servicing tickets that start in 1825.The blued steel hour, minute and second hands are correct and original. The finely cast dial carries gold Roman Numerals, with a decoration of incised flowers and foliage in silver and gold. The dial is crisp and scratch free. Inside of the outer case is an 18kt gold stamping attesting to its gold content. The balance staff jewel is a rose diamond. NOTES:Contained in the Gold Case of this Roskell Watch is an original Watchmakers label with the name LINDOL SPRAGUE, of Wooster, England, who was nor only a watchmaker, but suppliers of military items that in all probability we're such things as Officers Badges and associated hardware. Lindol Sprague has dated one of the labels in ink 1825,a good indicator that he may have purchased and sold this watch from the maker Robert Roskell and retailed it to a client. There are also several other watch makers labels within the case with hand written copper plate written notes, they are faded and would need specialized equipment to read them. Robert Roskell a renowned Watch Maker also manufactured works and parts for Long Case Clocks. He was active in Liverpool between 1798 to 1830.He died on the 17 of September 1847.
