William IV Sterling Silver Book Vinaigrette - 1831 Taylor & Perry - Birmingham - $650 - (Laguna Niguel, CA)

Rare William IV sterling silver vinaigrette of book (rectangular) form. It is in excellent condition with no damage. The cover and bottom lids are designed via engine turning. The book design includes the spine and engraved borders to resemble pages. The cover is engraved with "M. Ward". The interior is silver gilt. The silver gilt grille is pierced and has an attractive floral & foliate design. Old sponge still inside. The hinges are sound and close firmly. Fully hallmarked inside both cover lids and under grille. The vinaigrette is intentionally left uncleaned. See photos for condition. Joseph Taylor & John Perry, Birmingham, 1831. 1 5/8" wide.
