Antique Gibbs Wood Lithograph Horse US Mail Postal Vehicle This is an antique Gibbs Horse Trotter with Tin Postal Vehicle Toy. These toys were made in the 1st decade of the 1900s. The Gibbs Manufacturing Co. of Canton, OH, originally was making plows and farm machinery. In 1896, the company added toys, specializing in lithographed paper-on-wood, metal, wagons, spinning tops and advertising toys. The company's first toy was a political spinning top given away in William McKinley's presidential campaign. The toy articulates well, trotting as the toy is pulled and the wheels turn. It is in good condition for age. The litho on the left side of the horse is good with some loss around the edges and especially the tail. The right side of the horse has significant litho loss. The U.S. Postal labels look good. The mail cab is in good shape with light denting in various places. The overall size is 12 inches long and 7 nches tall.
