Victorian 14K Yellow Gold Hair Art Locket Pendant, Flower Designed, Palette Work - $625 - (Johnston, IA)

Here is really exquisite large antique 14k YG and mourning hair locket. Beautifully floral designs, made by human hair with palette work and tiny hand-painted buds & seed pearls sitting on the stem of the flowers. It has a wonderful engraved edge, back and bale. The locket measures 1 3/8" diameter x total 1 15/16" long and weighs 12.5 grams. Unmarked but tests as 14k / 15k gold. One or two loose tiny hair leaves & a gold wire and has a tiny ding on the back. Overall it is in very good condition. Palette Work--"Cut work" or "palette work" is done by laying the hairs flat and up against each other, then gluing them to a base similar to tissue paper. When dried, shapes are cut out, formed into a pattern and glued. This produces a very delicate type of art which is usually placed in a brooch or pendant type setting. Shipping insurance including
