Offered here for your consideration is a fine antique Meissen porcelain figurine of Crinoline lovers. Entitled "The Kiss", this group was originally modelled by Johann Joachim Kändler in the 1740s. It depicts lovers posed on a plinth with flowers and foliage, entwined in an embrace in the moment before a kiss. This figurine dates to the late 19th century. It is in overall good, as-pictured used estate condition with an old (adequate, but not exceptional) repair to her back hand. Her hand bears a visible seam. There are some tiny losses and flakes here and there - notably to flowers, foliage and her ribbon. Otherwise, there are a few very fine and light glaze and surface scratches here and there and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. The base bears a blue underglaze crossed swords factory mark, and incised no. 518, and an impressed 48.
