Antique Porcelain Doll Fabric Body - Covered Wagon c 1840 - 16-1/2 Inches - $185 - (Denison, TX)

For sale is an Antique Porcelain Doll Fabric Body with an Covered Wagon hairdo and dating to the 1840's. The doll is in a lovely outfit, with the dress being burned out velvet or Devore. The clothes look to be original and are in good condition, the dress does have 2 good sized holes on the back and a little fraying on the back neck line. The yellow satin petticoat looks good with some edge wear to the black lace. The pantaloons are in good condition. The doll measures 16-1/2 Inches long and does have some cracks on both sides of the shoulders as well as crazing to the glaze. The hands and legs look to be wood though they sound ceramic when tapped together. I do not know the manufacturer. There is an old article pinned to the dolls dress, indicating it dates to the 1840's.
