Terrific plaque from the USS Southerland DD-743 (6.25" diameter heavy cast metal mounted on hard wood base 10" x 12.25" with 3" x .75" personalized brass plate). Plaque is in very good vintage, original condition. There's a mounting groove behind, so you can put it right up in your office or man cave (or lady's loft). The personalized brass plate reads: PRESENTED TO/CDR LARRY M. HURT/1 OCT. 1977--30 SEPT. 1980. The ship was a WW2 Gearing Class Destroyer that participated in strikes against the Japanese Home Islands toward the end of the War (1 Battle Star). Her action during Korean War included blasting targets during the Inchon Invasion (8 Battle Stars). She also served valiantly during the Vietnam War (10 Campaign Stars).
