Original Antique British Whaling Event Advertisement Pub Sign 1809 - $2,350 - (Kihei, HI)

A very old, stunning, British pub sign advertising a whaling event in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Tierra del Fuego is an archipelago off the southernmost tip of the South American mainland, across the Strait of Magellan. Tierra del Fuego was known for whaling, there are many species of whale that frequent the waters off its coast and is even a popular whale watching destination today. The amazing condition of this sign may be attributed to the fact that it is an advertisement sign and would have been taken down after the event. Both the whale and ship on this sign are hand-carved wooden figures fastened to the sign, giving it a 3D effect. This sign was purchased from a reputable antique dealer in Florida nearly 30 years ago and has been in storage since. Still has the tag from the dealer attached stating it is original and what I paid. Tag can be seen in the photos. Great for a man cave. Great sales price!
