The total 1863 gold sovereign mintage is 5,921699 of which the majority of coins no longer exist! Commencing mid-year 1863, the Royal Mint introduced a die numbering regime for quality control by tracking the coin, die and coin press operator with ours marked #6 of 27 die numbers!
