EXTREMELY DELICATE ENAMELING & PAINTING! ***EXTRAORDINARILY BEAUTIFUL PAIR of PAPER SHELL VASES *** ** ** **** *** ** ** ** ** These absolutely gorgeous paper shell vases have as their central theme - the vase, symbol of wealth and prestige in Chinese historical tradition. The vases display extremely well applied enameling and painting - precise in every detail. Delicate flowers form a wispy crown for the beautiful vase at the center which is surrounded on either side by objects considered precious in Chinese culture. There are bats, books, a lantern and falling flower petals. The multicolored pastel paints are still deep and rich in tone. The vases measure approx. and are in superb condition. There is minor, hardly noticeable wear to the gold gilt on the top rim and a flea bite to the foot of one vase (really not noticeable on display). There is an iron red Qianlong mark on the bottoms. In our opinion they are of the period but could be what are known as “honorary” works created later showing reverence for such exquisite works of the Qianlong period. Either way this exceptionally beautiful pair of vases exhibits are a quality work of art and well worth the asking price. Just of such exquisite delicate beauty!!
