Royal Copenhagen Unique Lidded Box by Thorkild Olsen - $200 - (Chattanooga, TN)

This offering is for a Royal Copenhagen lidded box by Thorkild Olsen.This is an unusual design and size. It measures 6 1/4" by 3 1/2" and is about 2" tall. The sort of cranberry rippled base is more rectangular than most examples seen. I have seen ones that are more square. The base is dated 1959. The lid features what I would call an abstract cactus in the same rust/cranberry color with a few black accent lines. The style sort of matches many vase examples by the same artist. I can not find another on like this anywhere. The lid is marked with the company and artist logo.The condition is very good. There are no chips or cracks. There is just a little crazing in the bottom of the base that is hard to notice.It doesn't get much more mid-century than this. I'm sure lots of people would be happy to have this in their collection.
