Antique Rare Very Fine Duke’s 18k Rose Gold French Signet Seal Ring 23.2 Gms - $3,600 - (Florence, MA)

Very fine and exceptional 18K rose gold French signet ring belonging to a Duke or Duchess, which is not just nobility but also royalty. This is the finest quality armorial signet ring you can find. This very French style is typical of the fin-de-siècle, at the turn of the 19th and 20th Century. Could easily be late 19th Century. Condition is exceptional. Had very little use in 120 or so years. Inspect the extremely fine reverse (intaglio) engraving. Exceptional artistry and very beautiful. It is also very heavy. Over 23 grams, which is even heavier for a very fine French ring of that period. It is approximately size 6 3/4 U.S. the top is 14.5 mm N to S. Rectangular tops look bigger than round or oval tops with the same measurement. It is a great Goldilocks size that can be easily worn on any finger including the pinky on a medium men’s hand. There is no longer a French hallmark (sizing?) but there is an 18ct mark (not British; no cartouche) on the inside which was probably put on at a later date. Not unusual at all. I will sell this to a world famous antique store in New Orleans if it doesn’t sell on eBay. It will probably be sold for more than 3 times my asking price.
