This is a great Texas "Chief of Police" badge. It is gold washed or plated and measures 2 3/4 by 1 3/4 inches. It is from Belton, Texas. Belton is located between Fort Worth and Austin. Authentic Vintage Texas "Chief Of Police" badges are hard to find, just like Sheriffs, Constables, Texas Rangers, U.S. Marshals and City Marshals. Deputy badges come along far more often. It has a small Burgess catch on it. They were first made in 1909 and are still manufactured. I think this badge has an applied five pointed star with Texas spelled out around it.
