Bach Stradivarius 42 Bb specs custom trombone J. Landress Brass New York City - $1,600 - (Sarasota, FL)
This is a custom trombone made by J. Landress Brass in New York City. It was commissioned by the jazz trombonist Andre Hayward ! His name is engraved on the bell. It is based on straight Bach 42 specs but the braces are relocated to maximize the sonic qualities of the instrument. The bell is 8.5 inch with some great engraving -see pics. Even though it's similar to 42 -it is not marked as such. I don't know if they've used the actual 42 bell or it is custom made as well? It has a tremendous high register ! The instrument is well used. Slide is a large shank. There are significant plate loss areas on both stockings. The slide is functional but if you are a professional trombonist - you'd like it straighten and aligned and perhaps re-plated. A lot of silver plating loss on the bell at the contact places, mute bites, gig scars all over the horn. The gold plating is still visible but it's worn out. Personally I like the patina on the instrument and I would only re-do the slide or maybe replace it with another 42 slide or a carbon one as this one is pretty heavy. As it stands you can play a gig straight out of the SKB flight case but for some extensive solos you need the slide improved. The case is in very good condition with some very strong Wintergreen smell so if it bothers you, you might want another case. We ship to the continental USA only. Please, ask questions before you buy as we do not accept returns under any circumstances. By clicking Buy Now you consent to the terms. YOU DO NOT GET THE MOUTHPIECE AS IT IS USED FOR DEMONSTRATION ONLY.
