Silver and Brass Music Shop is a brick-and-mortar brass instrument restoration and repair shop located in Carson City, NV. For more information about our business, please feel free to visit our Ebay Profile at http://www.ebay.com/usr/silver_brass_music Here is a 1920 Conn 80A "Victor New Wonder"(Serial Number 173110). The bore of the horn is Conn #2 1/2 bore (.484"). The bell is 4 5/8". Here is what Conn said at the time: "Victor cornets are setting the standard for the cornet world. Easy speaking, marvelously flexible, perfect in intonation and possessing unsurpassed beauty of tone. It is not strange they are being played by more world artists than any other cornet in the world. Now available in two bores - the 4A Small bore and the 80A Large bore. One of these two is the cornet you've been wishing you could sometime possess; it all depends upon what your engagement demands of you, which one you choose." This horn plays well. As for the aesthetic condition of the horn, there are a few dings and pings throughout. There is also some pitting and light scratching. A few connections have been resoldered in the past. The bell engraving reads “VICTOR/ NEW WONDER/ C.G. CONN LTD./ ELKHART/ IND”. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now--if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This cornet comes with a somewhat worn case and a mouthpiece in good condition. All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop 710 N. Curry St. Carson City, NV89703(775) 691-9737
