1908 C G Conn "Conn-Queror" Cornet (Trumpet), Bb and A w/Case,Mpc - $800 - (Carson City, NV)
Silver and Brass Music Shop is a brick-and-mortar brass instrument restoration and repair shop located in Carson City, NV. For more information about our business, please feel free to visit our Ebay Profile at http://www.ebay.com/usr/silver_brass_music Here is a 1908 Conn "Connqueror" cornet (serial number 101187). This 110-year-old horn is built in medium bore (.450") and has a bell diameter of 4 1/2". It plays in Bb with a pull slide which puts the horn in A. This horn is in fabulously good condition or its age, and plays beautifully. This horn is has its original raw brass finish, with silver plated accents. The engraving is in great shape, and reads “THE/ CONN-QUEROR/ C.G. CONN/ -MAKER-/ ELKHART/ -IND.-”. The valves move well with very good compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of the horn, there are a few minuscule pings as well as a few tiny scratches or nicks. It appears to me that this horn may be made almost entirely from solid "French Brass" rather than from yellow brass--the color of the horn is a bit more gold than traditional yellow brass, and "French Brass" was an alloy that Conn commonly used at the time, but I can't be certain. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now--if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This horn comes with a mouthpiece in good condition and its original somewhat worn hardshell case. All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop 710 N. Curry St. Carson City, NV89703(775) 691-9737
