This 113-year-old horn is built in large bore (.468") and has a bell diameter of 4 1/2". It plays in Bb with a pull slide which puts the horn in A. This horn is in fabulously good condition or its age, and plays beautifully. This horn is has its original satin silver finish, with bright silver plated accents. The engraving is in great shape, and reads “THE/ CONN-QUEROR/ C.G. CONN/ -MAKER-/ ELKHART/ -IND.-”. The valves move well with good compression considering the age of the horn, and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of the horn, there are a few small dings and nicks as well as some light scratching. The rose-gold wash inside the bell is in decent shape, with a few areas where the gold is worn as well as a few scratches. There are only a few small areas where the silver plate has worn off. There is a patch on the bell throat near the second valve. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn comes with a mouthpiece in good condition and a somewhat worn hardshell case.
