FINE LONGQUAN CELADON OCTAGONAL MEIPING VASE Yuan Ming Antique Chinese Porcelain - $28,000 - (Bellevue, WA)
SUPERB ANTIQUE CHINESE LONGQUAN CELADON VASE Yuan / Ming (1279-1644) Exquisite example of Chinese Longquan Celadon glazework with sublime coloration and a lustrous finish. Of strong and handsome octagonal meiping form with the eight facet edges gently rounded, rising to a short neck and bottle mouth. The unctuous sea-green glaze pools in the recesses and thins on the edges adding understated and elegant depth to the surface. The combination of the well balanced form, superb coloration, and impressive size, is utterly magnificent. In excellent antique condition with some areas of light crazing and surface patina commensurate with age. The sturdily potted vase is of significant size, measuring approximately 14 inches tall. Makes quite a statement form all the way across the room. Superbly represents the epitome of the Chinese aesthetic of the period, with the clean lines and natural, elegant presence exhibiting strength and harmony. A splendid example of Asian life and expression, and an exquisite centerpiece for the discriminating collector of Chinese art and antiques. See 12 photos above left.
