This timelessly-styled mahogany and ebonized hardwood box has gently pillowed sides and sculpted ends. Combined with a mildly arched top, this construction yields a shape that is both attractive and memorable. The mahogany wood parts have been painstakingly shaped and sanded, then finished with a clear topcoat that has been enhanced with a fine gold fleck. The top has a gold fleck crest image embedded within the clear topcoat that intensifies and diminishes with changing light, similar to a watermark in high quality papers. The hardwood ends have also been painstakingly shaped with arches to compliment the top and sides, then sanded and ebonized to yield a sharp visual contrast to the mahogany. The interior of the box also is also completely finished to match the exterior, rubbed to a semi-gloss sheen. There are no visible hinges--they are completely hidden. This style of treasure box is typically used as a jewelry or trinket box, a pencil or pen box, or as a compliment to a desk set or table decor.
