A Fine European Telegraph key by Charles Richez of Bruxelles, Belgium ca 1890 - $625 - (Baton Rouge, LA)
For Auction: A beautiful "Manipulateur Morse" Telegraph Key made by Charles Richez of Bruxelles (Brussels), Belgium, ca 1890. Richez was a known clock maker & instrument maker who produced a variety of goods during his days. (Reference: DL9GDB Dieter Brachmann). During the First World War the key was later reproduced by a Belgian named Girard (note both Richez & Girard with their French family names) who may well have been an apprentice to Richez. I know of only one other key by Richez in existence. Condition: Extremely nice and lightly used if at all. Some spotting of the laquer base coating which is inevitable with age. If Dieter Brachmann's dating is accurate, this key is 120 years old. It is a bronze cast key and the cast base may or may not have a small crack probably from age relaxation. My eyesight is not good enough to tell. Since this is a display item of a key so old, we don't see this as an issue. Terms: The key here at auction is auctioned as a desirable collectible and will be well packed. It is offered AS IS and we do not wish returns. We are down-sizing and not retailing. Please contact me NOW if you have any questions. Shipping: Keys this expensive must be insured adequately, tracked & shipped quickly. Please be prepared to follow the tracking so that you can sign for this key.
