Emerson player piano / nickeloeon - plays G rolls - includes two rolls - $599 - (Big Lake, MN)
This is a built-up nickelodeon that someone made by removing the upper player action and lower pedals and bellows from an Emerson player piano and adding electronics including a G roll spool frame. It has piano and mandolin rail; no other instruments. The piano cabinet has not been modified. I believe that the spool frame is from Player Piano Company and that it would work for A or G rolls, though in this application, the piano is set up for G rolls. I base this assumption on photos of spool frames that were sold by PPC before it went out of business. The spool frame itself seems to work just fine, but a few problems have developed over the years. Recently for reasons unknown to us, it now plays continuously when plugged in. Our mechanical music group had this in a local museum for a couple of years during which it worked as it is supposed to: insert a quarter and the next song on the roll plays; then the motor stops waiting for the next coin. At the end of the roll it rewinds to the beginning and stops at the point that it is ready to play the first song again. Now, when plugged in it just plays through all the songs. I have not played it to the end, so I cannot say if it will automatically rewind. Also, on rewind it does not stop where it is supposed to so it has ripped the rolls off of their spool. They have been repaired with tape on a temporary basis; not a professional repair at all. It comes with two G rolls in good condition other than the torn leaders. It also no longer seems to play with as much power as it once had. There are three video clips posted. Take a look. This item is in the country near Big Lake, MN, in an easily accessible shop with no steps. Buyer will have to arrange a mover to pick it up. The unit runs on 110 volt standard AC, which includes the relays at the bottom, which are supposed to control the starting and stopping. Thus, there are some exposed 110 volt wires. However, it does have a framed plexiglas cover for the bottom to keep st
