96 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ANTIQUE Austro-Hungarian Empire STERLING SILVER TEA STRAINER Antique Austro-Hungarian Empire Solid Silver Tea Strainer – White Bone Flower Handle Circa 1867-1872 Description: Antique, 19th Century, Austro-Hungarian Empire Solid Silver Tea Strainer, with the rare white bone handle. Excellent quality and great condition. Technique & Material: Solid silver casting, stamping, gilding. Marked: All parts are fully Hallmarked. There are four small hallmarks on the front. Diana head mark, JB, WNS, and another 3 800 Austro-Hungarian Empire Hallmarked related to the period 1867-1872. (800 standard). The “Dianakopf” or Diana’s head mark, head turned to the right in the headdress, first was used in 1867, the cartouche shape and number (800) within indicate the silver fineness. Beginning 1872, a letter was added to indicate city of assay. In this case the letter “A” is indicate Vienna, Austro-Hungarian Empire. Maker’s mark “JB” is the name stamp, indicated silversmith master. “VNS” – Vienna’s silversmith hallmark. Conditions: In Great Condition. Showing just general wear on a surface, loss to gilt inside the lid and around maker's mark, as expected due to use and age. A small crack on the bone handle.
