This book is the most comprehensive account profiling John Gibbon, the Union officer commanding the Black Hat Brigade ( later known as the Iron Brigade ) during some of the Civil War's most decisive battles. Later in life, General Gibbon fought in the Indian Wars. Signed by author Dennis Lavery and inscribed to a friend. Very rare first edition. No dust jacket - as issued by publisher.
