Rare ROOKWOOD Vase Pottery Brown w/ Blue Spec Glaze 1924 # 2135 Pattern, Antique - $425 - (Durham, ME)

After 94 Years of fresh flowers and dried fall field daisys, this Rookwood Vase from 1924 still looks amazing! There are no chips or cracks or scratches. The mark of the creator is as clear as if it were made yesterday. *"Pottery of Cincinnati, Ohio was the most famous American pottery at the turn of the 20th century, and much of the early Rookwood was hand-painted by artists, using the pottery as a canvas. Rookwood pottery is marked with a logo formed from the "RP" initials and flames in a circle — a flame added for each year after 1886, up to 1900, which had 14 flames. Roman numerals identify the year of production from 1900 until 1967." (* From Cajun Collection) Ohio clay was a softer white and not as bright a white as today's clay and ceramics. This is a tiny gem in a sea of glamorous vases saught after for far less craftsmanship. This vase stands 5-7/8" tall and is of a soft brown glaze , speckled with blue glaze dots, entwined around winding squares that twirl to the top of the vase mouth. So smooth an exit. What a gift to behold and pass down for another hundred years! Measures: 5-7/8" inches tall, 5 inches deep, 1.5 inch at mouth-top opening, base of 2.5 inches. Clearly marked w/ # 2135 Pattern Mold.
