VTG Conn 6m Alto Saxaphone~First Generation~Original Case - $800 - (Martinsville, VA)
I am not an expert on saxaphones. I have consulted with an afficianado for the following information: 1st generation Conn 6m alto. Serial number places date of manufacture at 1932. Original lacquer. Needs complete overhaul. Comes with original case. The stamp has an L which indicates that it's a Low Pitch horn. This horn is what's known as a "transitional," meaning it has some features of the Conn New Wonder II and some features of the Artist series, commonly called the "6m" or "naked lady." Considered the first version of the 6m. The horn at the end of the transitional period and is the first that would be considered a a 6m. Some will argue because it does not have a "naked lady" engraving on and it has a "chu Berry" era micro tuner. Other than that, the horn is a 6m. Most Conn afficiandos consider this a 1st generation 6m.
