Best available 2004 Rory Gallagher Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster. All original - $3,750 - (Medford, OR)

I was lucky enough to see Rory Gallagher play live. Not once, but twice! As a fan, I always wanted one of these, but could not afford the high price tag when released. I finally scraped together enough to buy one; but was very disappointed in some of the examples for sale. Some were just rough; others were missing the case and the accessories. There are some obvious fakes as well. I rejected (and returned) 2 other guitars before I found this gem several years ago. This is a virtually unplayed guitar which has spent the majority of its life as a "Closet Queen." It is in mint condition. On a postal scale, this guitar weighs 7 lbs, 7.8 oz The 12 accessory items you see here are what the guitar was sold with in 2004. Compare this to other examples that seem to have markedly less in the way of accessories. It even has the signed Fender factory Quality Control tag! I am of the opinion that the first examples of an Artist Signature guitar are the most accurate; and of the highest quality. As the value appreciates, Fender simply creates more to simply "cash in" on the success of the earlier guitars. Later reissues seem to more concerned with profit than with accuracy and playability. The latest reissue of this same guitar is priced at $4,700 - and at least two major music stores are -"out of stock" until at least February, 2019. Don't wait a long time to pay more money, for a lesser guitar. This is as fine an example as is available, at any price.
