Why settle for just an autograph when you can have something which is autographed AND historically profound? This is a typewritten letter on White House stationary, dated June 3, 1983, signed in full by then-President "Ronald Reagan" in blue ink, addressed "Dear Dan" (Lieutenant General Daniel O. Graham, USA, ret.), and acknowledging the General's kindness in dedicating his book to the President, while expressing further appreciation for "the important work you and your colleagues have done to prepare the way for a more secure America." Dutch was referring to the Strategic Defense Initiative, of course, aka SDI or "Star Wars", which General Graham had spearheaded for the administration and was continuing to support through his "High Frontier Project," a high-tech missile-defense think-tank based in Washington, D.C.. SDI never got off the ground, but the prospect gave the Soviets pause, as they say, and it was thus instrumental in ending the Cold War.
