Adopt Sam a Black - with Tan, Yellow or Fawn Black and Tan Coonhound / Labrador - N.A. - (West Lafayette, IN)

We have been fostering Sam for a year after he was adopted out of a shelter by a friend who then had to move to another city and could not take him. We did not want him to go back to a shelter because he has separation anxiety and would have been traumatized. We have worked with an animal behaviorist at Purdue to try to help him. Sam is on 2 medicines. He is very friendly and affectionate. He LOVES to play chase with other dogs. He is not high-maintenance in regard to exercise, but he does need an opportunity every day to stretch his legs and sprint. We run him 3-four miles a day, and he lays around the rest of the day. He runs good on a leash but can run off leash on trails. Everyone who meets Sam loves him. However, the other side of him is very anxious. He cannot stand to be left alone. He breaks out of crates and will dig at carpets. He needs other dogs in the house and people who are home a lot. We both work all day and are not able to give him what he needs.
