Bruno Del Favero, Oil on Masonite, Stag at Waterfalls Landscape, 33 x 40 1/2", 1980s Description Exceptional example of the work of self-taught artist Bruno Del Favero (1910-1995). Of Italian decent, longtime Greenwich, Connecticut resident Del Favero worked the majority of his life as a mason and then landscape gardener only turning to painting around the age of 70. He is listed as one of the artists included in a Juried Exhibition at the Finn Gallery, Greenwich Library in 1973 and his works were featured by the Cavin-Morris Gallery in Soho in an exhibition titled, “The Greenwich Visionary: Work from the Estate of Bruno del Favero,” in 2003. From fanciful landscapes to haunting portraits to depictions of naive architecture and cityscapes, Del Favero was a master at depicting his own expression of the world through his unencumbered vision. This untitled landscape depicts a roaring waterfall along steep precipices with a large stag overlooking the scene and a smaller deer poised among the rocks. His overglaze technique captures the misty pale of the atmosphere that hovers over the falls. Nice condition, original frame shows two chips at corners, oil on masonite, signed faintly on front right bottom corner and boldly on verso, measures 33 x 40 1/2 inches with frame. Send questions.
