With a large population of immigrant and refugee French artisans, settlers from Normandy and fleeing Huguenots, the area became a thriving glass-making center. The author spent years scouring local records, digging in farmers’ fields, and amassing documentary and physical evidence of this now-vanished industry. This study also includes much material on the state of glass-making in this period, with period engravings and scale reconstructions. DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 7.5”x10”, 85 pages, 60 black & white illustrations; green cloth with gilt titles.
