MASSIVE ANTIQUE HAND FORGED WROUGHT IRON SWINGARM ANDIRONS FIREDOGS 55"Wx41"T - $2,500 - (Canton, GA)
Exceptional pair of MASSIVE, antique, SWINGARM, andirons, firedogs. Dating to the early 1900s, the pair features hand crafted wrought iron which is thick and heavy. The iron is hammered and features twisted and birdcage details. There are scrolled and curled sections which are paired with rosettes. There are heavy ORNATE chains with large, heavy hook attachments. The firedogs are fixed and are not removable. There is a functional crossbar that sits freely on the scrolled section of the firedogs. This section has birdcage details and a crest/shield in the center. There are 2 holes in the crossbar; one on each side. The holes are designed to house the large hooks of the chains if the swing arms are in a backward facing position (as pictured in picture 3). The pair also 2 have cup and/or utensil holders on each side. The iron is finished in a gloss black but there are aged areas with some minor rust in a few places. This is an exceptionally ornate and detailed pair of superb quality. The are not marked. VERY HEAVY. Very good, antique condition. There are a couple of prongs missing on one of the smaller cup holder sections as pictured. Not distracting. When assembled together as pictured, they measure 55"w, 41"T, 36"D Each andiron is 41" tall, 19"w, and 36" deep. Freight shipping via USHIP inside your door. Please contact us for a quote.
