Antique 18th century valance Indigo blue French textile quilted bed hanging - $1,625 - (Burlington, VT)

~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~An absolutely beautiful, antique French bed valance dating c 1790-1810. Surviving in remarkable condition! ~ The front of this valance is a either a resist dyed or discharge dyed indigo blue. Sometimes it's quite difficult to be 100% sure about which technique was used and in this case I'm leaning toward the discharge dyed blue fabric. The yellow was hand block printed . The backing fabric is a wonderful striped furnishing fabric, quite utilitarian in those days. This textile would have hung from a bed canopy . This is hand stitched and hand quilted with a light cotton batting between the layers. A rare and remarkable find. CONDITION : This textile is in as found condition.
