Variegated Mini Jade Bonsai - 4" Pot, Prebonsai, Good Trunk & Branch Lines, Great Start! Variegated Mini Jade Tree (Portulacaria afra variegata) Bonsai is available for auction. Shown is a representative tree from our stock. It is a prebonsai and has some pruning and training to establish its design and structure & has good trunk & branch lines. It has been grown in a 4" round plastic pot and is ready for transplanting whenever you are. The Jade family of trees are native to the Kalihari Desert in southern Africa and receive an average of three inches of rain per year in this climate. They are tough plants and are great for both the beginner as well as an addition to an established bonsai collection. Jades prefer at least 2.5-3 hr of light/day, temperatures between 35-120F and at least a week with bone dry soil before watering again. They enjoy being outdoors as long as night temperatures are a few degrees above freezing. A tough resilient, easy to care for bonsai species. This tree has a nicely developed canopy.
