12/31/18 Zimba came to the shelter because he was not getting along with 1 of the guineapigs he was living with but he did get along with another guineapig he was housed with. Zimba is very friendly and outgoing and gentle while playing. Zimba also makes attempts to be clean, only going to the bathroom in 1 portion of his cage. Guineapigs make precious pets as they are social and gentle and enjoy human companionship. A well-balanced guineapig diet consists of high quality guineapig food (pellets), lots of timothy hay and limited amounts of vegetables and fruits. They also require 30 to 50 mg of vitamin C daily from high quality food, vitamin supplements or fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C. Although he did not get along with another pig in the past, he may be able to share a home with another male guineapig. Zimba is a Peruvian guineapig, which means he is long-haired and because of this, he will need regular grooming and may need trimming/brushing of his coat on a daily basis.
