Museum Quality 130 Year Old (1888) ELGIN 6S Pocket Watch in 14K Solid Gold & Diamond Full Hunter Case Just Serviced, Running Strong, Keeping Excellent TimeRare, Unique Opportunity It is rare that any watch survives for several years usage in nearly new condition. Defying the nearly impossible any pocket watch could survive for 130 years and look this pristine, this rare example has done just that. We can only surmise that the original owner rarely used it and subsequent generations followed suit. Seeing is believing and kindly view the graphics.Watches in this age range simply are extremely uncommon in this state, occupying a minuscule niche in the overall sales market. The dial is a fancy porcelain with NO hairlines or cracks and features Arabic numerals. The glass crystal has no scratches or scuffs. The hands area rich deep blue in excellent to mint condition. The Full Hunter case is in 14k Solid Gold and signed 'Anchor' Dueber 14k showing a serial # 1321443. The dial is 'unsigned', which, although rare, was an option dealers or customers could specify (as one example, the Elgin 1896 material catalog on page 023 shows an illustration of an unsigned dial, part number 1514 and 1518). This was a specially ordered luxury timepiece as the diamond attests on the back case. Another welcome feature is the case never personally inscribed with any owner initials. The only noted flaw we could discover was an extremely small 'tick' or 'mark' on the inner case back covering the movement exactly in the center (caused by the inner diamond setting). This would have been caused by someone closing the two back covers together instead of separately or perhaps not making certain the inner cover was not properly latched prior to closing the back case. The mark is so tiny it was not picked up by our camera and could probably be polished away. The movement is as outstanding as the Hunter Case in appearance and working condition.
