Other: Handsome Eikemeyer lantern slide titled “Carding Wool by Hand.” This image was included in the publication, “Pageant of America: A Pictorial History of the United States,” a fifteen volume set published by Yale University Press from 1925-1929. Rudolf Eickemeyer was a lover of nature and a proponent of demystifying the “high art” of photography. He was an early champion of the “photo” book, publishing a small handful of accessible publications illustrated with photographic images. His pictorialist style was second to none and he was only the second American, after Stieglitz, to be invited into the prestigious, “Linked Ring,” the coveted British photography group. In addition to his fine art pursuits, Eickmeyer operated a commercial studio and provided commercial images on behalf of Kodak. Send questions.
