Rare WWII Seth Thomas Course Zig Zag sub avoidance U. S. Navy Ships Clock- 6 in - $150 - (Joplin, MO)
This is a rare World War II era U. S. Navy Seth Thomas course clock. The clock is also marked on the face Mark II, Model 1 with a 20667 serial number. It is approx. 6" diameter. These Clocks Were known as zig zag clocks because they rang an alert at designated times that reminded the captain to alter course so that the ship was not easily tracked by submarines. This clock was evidently serviced or salvaged at one time and removed from the case. This auction is for the clock dial and movement only. It does not have a case. It also does not have a seconds bits, minute hand or key. The clock has some cosmetic scratches and marks. It could be cleaned up quite a bit. This clock was salvaged at some time so it definitely needs repair. You can also assume that the movement likely has some Grime, dirt and Rust. You can also note from the photos that the Escape wheel is loose and is laying inside the clock. It may also be missing some other parts. Otherwise, the clock looks restorable , but I'm not making guarantees. The clock is sold as is; for restoration or as a collectible.
