This item is not new; it is a salvaged item and has a layer of black paint over the iron which however still allows one see the incised detail on the iron Old black paint covers the edges of a brass plate that has what appears to have a porcelain marble shaped push button (That still depresses easily) This has a great old patina and its overall condition is wonderful: no breaks, cracks or damage The cylinder attached to the push button mechanism extends out the back side of iron plate approx. 1-1/4”Approx.
