I bought this DVR looking forward to returning to our much loved TiVo, and now I just learned that our fiber optic-based internet provider's system is incompatible with TiVo--it will stream from the internet but cannot connect to the fiber optic service provider's system. My language was not pretty and going back to Comcast was not in the cards, so loss is your gain. This is the latest version of the TiVo DVR with 500gb HDD, voice controlled remote, commercial skip, WiFi, 4K, and lotsa other stuff. It's a brand new unit--the box is still wrapped and everything that comes with a TiVo Bolt VOX is still inside. It has TiVo's Lifetime All-In service plan, a $550 value on top of the $199 (list) for the DVR itself. This means TiVo service is free, free, free for the life of the machine, a savings of $14.99/mo or $149/yr; you will still need a cable card and service from a cable provider. The TiVo can coordinate your streaming services, receive signals from cable or over-the-air (OTA), records programs, and has a skip commercial function on the remote for recordings. In short, it's great stuff and I'm really annoyed that I can't use it.
