The horn has a slide bore of .547" and the bell measures 8 1/2". This instrument plays very well. The valve works very well, and has very good compression. The slide action is quite good, but there are a couple of small imperfections in the outer tubes and if you are highly particular about your slide you may want to have these addressed. There is some typical "Conn wear" on the stockings, but the slide still functions well. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are a few small dings and pings as well as a few small, isolated areas of pitting, scratching and etching. The bell engraving reads: “CONN/ MADE/ IN/ U.S.A.” The bell receiver part of the slide has “88H” stamped next to the serial number. This horn is not lacquered; therefore, fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina.
