AMT Al Unser March-Cosworth Indy Slot Car 1/24 Scale offered by MTH. In 1987 Cummins sponsored Al Unser in a Cosworth engine '86 March. This was a last minute combination. Danny Ongies driving Penske PC16 during practice, put the Chevy engine car into the wall which put both car and driver out of commission for race. Penske, looking for another car and drive, turned to Cummins and Al Unser to see what they can do. The '86 March was on display in shopping mall in Pennsylvania without an engine, this was only 10 days before the race. Having no spare Chevy Indy V8 engine for the car, a Cosworth was fitted and Al without a driving job at the beginning of May, put the car in the field in the twentieth position. Al steadily moved up in the field and when the race leader, Jose Guerro stalled in the pits, Al moved into the lead driving the Cummins-Holset turbo special. When he crossed the finish line under the checkered flag he cinched his fourth Indy 500 win. Car you are looking at is original yellow mold with original stickers with clear protection coat in excellent condition. Car was never raced, only tested and lubed. Real one of a kind Indy car!
